Under Doerr's leadership, the Panthers pounced on the NCAA's movement to allow college athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL) by creating the FLA Athlete program to expand their brand's reach. They signed an agreement with University of Miami quarterback D'Eriq King and offered NIL deals to every female student-athlete at Florida Atlantic University.
The sports industry is evolving quickly in the digital space, and Doerr is also evaluating non-fungible tokens (NFTs), artificial intelligence (AI), and paperless transactions, to name a few things. Not every new idea flooding the marketplace is worth pursuing, but each one gets a closer look than it may have received in the past.
