Job Summary:

The Vice President of Business Operations provides leadership and oversight to all business teams and operations including the planning, developing and establishing strategies and objectives in alignment with company strategies and baseball operations. This position oversees all seating products including season tickets, partial plans, individual tickets, and groups; executing sales strategies that deliver revenue targets and maximize profit margins.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and lead sales strategic plans for achieving annual and long-term revenue and profitability growth targets.
  • Maintain focus on maximizing profitability, creating new revenue streams, reducing operating expenses, identifying efficiencies, synergies and economies of scale that lead to tangible economic value creation.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership to all business teams including Ticket Sales, Suite Sales, Corporate Sales, Broadcasting, Fantasy Camp, Marketing, Promotions, Business Media Relations, Public and Community Affairs.
  • Oversee the strategic planning and coordination, across all business teams, all products, all platforms, etc. including ticket sales, premium sales, event revenues and per caps, corporate partnerships, marketing, media, operations, etc.
  • Drive new or changed operational practices/protocols across the organization.
  • Lead competitive landscape assessment of prevailing peer benchmarks (e.g., in terms of capability, assets, and initiatives among other considerations). ISE is continually looking for best practices to operate at or near the top of MiLB clubs/stadiums.
  • Collaborate closely with and leverage the business intelligence team to ensure all seating products are appropriately (and efficiently) strategized, scaled, priced, marketed and sold.
  • Collaborate closely with and leverage the marketing team to ensure marketing and media programs are effectively and efficiently laser targeting the very best ticket buying prospects to stimulate optimal demand.
  • Assess the existing sales approach, ensuring standards, processes and solution-selling methodologies are in place to serve existing and new potential customers most effectively.
  • Maximize new profitable business opportunities and customer retention. Constantly evolve the overall strategy for the sales departments including the identification of opportunities utilizing data and technology.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing strategy and operational plans to include annual budgets, operating pro-formas, operational policies and procedures, hiring/training and colleague development of full-time staff.
  • Conduct industry and marketplace due diligence to spot trends early, to identify and evaluate initiatives and opportunities to expand into new business initiatives, verticals, products, platforms, etc.
  • Manage and direct all internal and external communications.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality, openness, diversity and a consistently safe work environment.
  • Serve as the organizational point of contact for all PDL/MiLB communications and collaborate with box office and finance to fulfill all reporting needs in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the organization point of contact with the City of Lakeland, Polk County, and State of Florida.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in business or similar field.
  • 10 plus years progressive related experience.
  • Major or Minor League Baseball business experience required
  • 5 plus years of leadership/management experience, including experience working directly with multiple business teams.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, time management and organizational skills; proven ability to multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines.
  • Highly organized with excellent project coordination and project management skills, and able to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of and a passion for professional baseball.
  • Ability to work long hours, holidays and weekends.
