Dakota State University is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Coach for Men's and Women's Track and Field - Jumps/Vaults. This is a 12 month, benefit eligible position that will report directly to the head coach.
The primary purpose of the position is to support the Head Coach in all aspects of the track and field program, including athlete development, recruitment, training, and competition preparation.
The start date of the position will be June 23, 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement training programs for jumps and pole vault events.
- Conduct daily practice sessions, including warm-ups, workouts, cooldowns, and strength training.
- Analyze individual and team performances to adjust training plans for optimal results.
- Provide technique instruction, race strategies, and mental preparation for competitions.
- Identify and recruit talented high school and transfer student-athletes who align with the program's competitive and academic standards.
- Communicate with prospective athletes, families, and high school coaches to build relationships.
- Assist with on-campus recruiting visits and showcase program benefits to recruits.
- Build strong relationships with student-athletes to provide mentorship and support for both their athletic and academic journeys.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 1-3 years of coaching experience (preferably at the collegiate level).
- Competitive collegiate experience in the jumps and/or vaults.
- Proven ability to train and develop track and field athletes.
- Ability to travel for recruiting and competitions, including weekends and evenings.
