We are excited to announce the Assistant Director of Athletics opportunity at Saint Xavier High School. Reporting to the Executive Director of Athletics, this position will play a key role in fostering excellence both on and off of the field. The Assistant Director of Athletics will be an integral part of our athletic program, working closely with coaches, student-athletes, and other stakeholders to continue building on our 161 year legacy and shape the continued success of our student athletes. Summary The Assistant Director of Athletics assists in managing all aspects of the athletic program for Saint Xavier High School students and coaches. This position helps set the tone of excellence and cooperation within the Athletic Department and conducts all department programs within the context of the Saint Xavier mission and philosophy of education. Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Athletics in implementing and supervising all athletic policies and procedures.
- Assist in the interview and selection process for select head coaching and assistant coaching positions.
- Assist in ensuring coaches know and follow Kentuckys High School Athletic Association rules and are conducting their programs withing the mission, philosophy, and goals of Saint Xavier High School.
- Assist in maintaining proper eligibility files for each student athlete working with the Assistant Principal for Academic Services to ensure only eligible student athletes participate during each session.
- Assist in approval and scheduling of all games and contests.
- Assist in scheduling and use of all athletic fields and facilities while maintaining a departmental spreadsheet and calendar of events.
- Maintain the Athletics website, including updating rosters, games schedules, and results in consultation with head coaches and Communications Coordinator.
- Assist in coordinating the hiring of KHSAA approved officials for each home contest.
- Ensure each contest has necessary personnel, including prefects, ticket sellers, scorekeepers, and announcers.
- Facilitate payment to game officials and workers.
- Assist with supervision of the cheerleading program.

Produce appropriate financial records for ticket sales and game reports for each contest.
- Perform facility maintenance as required (turf grooming, pre-contest set-up and break-down, etc.)
- Assist in coordinating all athletic awards assemblies and banquets.
- Attend home athletic contests of all sports and levels as designated by the Executive Director of Athletics, serving as the game and event manager.
- Serve on the Communications Team to assist coaches and the Office of Institutional Advancement in communicating athletic program information to the press and through St. X social media accounts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree in Sports Management, Athletic Administration, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills while maintaining flexibility.
- Strong understanding of high school sports dynamics, with a focus on innovation and implementation of evolving best practices.
- Familiarity with rules and standards of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
- Ability to foster strong connections in the athletic community and attract motivated student-athletes.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Willing and able to work on evenings and weekends as needed.
- Active member of the Catholic Church or strong understanding of its teachings and values preferred.
