This position will be housed within The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) and is partnered with the Army West Point Athletic Association, Inc. (AWPAA), a non-profit corporation organized to manage and support the 30 intercollegiate athletic programs at the Academy. The WPAOGs mission is to Serve West Point and the Long Gray Line. WPAOG is both the alumni association and foundation for USMA at West Point. The vision is to ensure the Long Gray Line remains the most highly connected alumni body in the world. USMA is renowned as the world's preeminent leadership development institution. The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400, and each year, approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.
In partnership with AWPAA, WPAOG is seeking a Director of Leadership and Sport Specific Giving to grow the athletic philanthropic efforts at USMA by increasing donor participation through engagement with alumni and supporters. This position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mid to high-level annual fund and sport specific gifts. As a member of the WPAOG Athletics Development team, the Director of Leadership & Sport Specific Giving reports to the Assistant Athletic Director of Major & Sport Specific Giving.
A bachelors degree and 3+ years of experience working in intercollegiate athletics, specifically within development/fundraising is required. Additionally, the incumbent must have excellent relationship-building, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. A masters degree is preferred.
