OverviewPOSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for monitoring fitness and tennis facilities; ensuring positive and friendly customer relations. Provide direction and leadership to Fitness and Tennis Center Attendants. Observes all activity within assigned areas offering assistance and instruction to guests/visitors. Ensure clean and well-maintained facility with customer service always a consideration. Maintain necessary continuing education to keep current on new trends, both in hotel and fitness industries. Continuously work to improve processes and services, using feedback from customers/guests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise daily operations of fitness and tennis facilities and staff with emphasis on guest service, cleanliness, safety, fiscal responsibility (i.e., staffing, payroll, expenses, revenue generation), staff guidance and support to make the fitness and tennis centers the best facilities possible in order to support hotel goals. Hire, train, and develop contract staff of Personal Trainers and Aerobics Instructors and any other contract situation, which may arise.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
- Anticipate guests needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
- Maintain complete knowledge of property management system and manual procedures.
- Work in conjunction with Director of Tennis to coordinate Member Tennis Socials and Tournaments as needed.
- Compile monthly financial reports such as Tennis Shop Inventory.
- Process Aerobics Instructors, Personal Trainers and Tennis Professional Payroll.
- Set up and organize workstation with designated supplies, forms and resource materials; report shortages to Director of Tennis.
- Be familiar with all hotel packages, promotions, prices and rates.
- Perform Opening Procedures.
- Count and secure Bank.
- Make Change Requests.
- Request Escort, when carrying money from General Cashiers office to/from a department.
- Maintain Cashier and Reception Areas.
- Set and maintain Water Stations.
- Greet Guests and Members ensuring they are checking in appropriately.
- Maintain knowledge of Hours of Operation, Memberships, Reservations, Rentals, Fees, Products and Merchandise.
- Recommend Racquet Re-Strings and lessons.
- Coordinate Re-String Tennis Racquets with designated Tennis Professional Staff.
- Book Tennis Lessons.
- Register Tennis Guests.
- Process requests for Ball Machine.
- Offer and process Night Tennis requests.
- Complete/Maintain Tennis Reservation Schedule.
- Assist guest with Fitness Center Equipment.
- Monitor Guest Safety.
- Maintain and replenish operating supplies in Fitness and Tennis public areas.
- Sell Merchandise and develop price quotes.
- Process Telephone Orders.
- Practice Loss Prevention.
- Maintain proper operation of Cash Register reporting any deviation to Manager.
- Maintain CPR and first aid, and relevant CEUS as applicable by state and federal laws.
- Order & Process Supplies & Merchandise from Vendors
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Pyramid Hotel Groups rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotels facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
- Assisting the marketing department in preparing the recreation brochure.
- Maintaining an ongoing inventory of all games, equipment and supplies.
- Communicating to Manager when supplies are needed.
- Perform; assume accountability and responsibility for any and all other functions delegated by Property Management that will better serve our guests.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:
- Adhere to hotel safety standards.
- Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by Manager.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must possess basic computer skills, including computer accounting programs and Microsoft Office. Math skills and budgetary analysis capabilities are required.
- Maintain positive communications with all hotel departments.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with fellow employees.
Physical Demands
- Most work tasks are performed outdoors.
- Position requires walking and giving direction; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Length of time of theses tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
Experience
Previous hotel experience preferred.
