Job Description Summary:
This temporary (12 month) position is designed to provide advanced preparation of athletic training practitioners with a focus on the unique needs of the active adolescent patient. This will be done through a planned program of clinical and didactic education in specialized content areas using an evidence-based approach to enhance the quality of patient care, optimize patient outcomes, and improve patients health-related quality of life. Athletic Training residents will benefit from an autonomous sports medicine experience, along with active mentorship and administrative oversight designed to foster the transition from professional student to practicing clinician. Athletic Training residents will work as an assistant athletic trainer in a secondary school or club organization that is staffed by an experienced OhioHealth athletic trainer. This position participates in athletic training learning / mentorship opportunities with additional responsibilities which may include AT presentations, primary care physician interactions and research activity.Responsibilities And Duties:
80%Direct Patient Care:
1. Evaluates and treats patients: a. Evaluates patient physical abilities and functional status, creates plan of care and initiates patient treatment after physician referral. b. Carries out plan of care with reassessment and changes to plan of care as appropriate. c. Provides patient & family with medical and exercise-specific education to improve function. d. Collaborates with sports medicine team members to carry out treatment plan and provide clinical care. e. Communicates care plan to physician and communicates on-going care & patient needs. f. Attends and contributes to multidisciplinary patient care meetings as appropriate.
2. Follows OhioHealth policies related to delivery of clinical care: a. Documents evaluation, plan of care, daily progress toward goals b. Carries out clinical outcomes processes according to department standards c. Follows Department of Health guidelines and acts within scope of practice as dictated by Ohio AT practice act and the OTPTAT Board.

Clinical Didactic Learning and Mentorship:
1. Participates in athletic training coursework and lab activities.
2. Participates in physician shadowing and other clinician observations.
3. Participates in research projects.
4. Presents clinical topics to sports medicine associates and administration.
5. Represents OhioHealth Sports Medicine in school and community events.
6. Participates in orientation of upcoming athletic training residents.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree: Athletic Training (Required)ATC - Athletic Trainer Credential - Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, CPR - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - American Red Cross, LIC - Licensed in Field - State of OhioAdditional Job Description:
