The Ideal candidate will:
- Be a champion for the facility that builds and enhances programs to increase revenue and foster a strong community.
- Oversee the business aspects and management of the sports complex facilities, including the skating rink, turf fields, concessions, staff, and other amenities.
- Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and special events to support capital improvement projects and initiatives.
- Ensure facilities are well-maintained and meet safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the City’s goals and objectives, including enhancing programs, increasing revenue streams, and expanding community outreach. Lead the future of the facility for the community, with oversight from the Community Services Department.
- Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the sports complex, including oversight/supervision of scheduling of facilities, maintenance, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons. These activities are managed by existing staff on a day to day basis, but require consistent oversight and leadership from the Recreation Supervisor.
- Financial Management: Identify & drive opportunities for revenue growth and cost-saving initiatives.
- Fundraising and Development: Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and special events to support the organization's capital improvement projects and initiatives.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including local sports teams, schools, businesses, and community organizations. Act as a liaison between the organization and the community to promote collaboration and engagement.
- Program Development: Work with staff to develop and implement innovative programs and events that meet the needs and interests of the community, while seeking to use the building to it’s maximum capacity at the highest percent feasible, to maintain lowest possible cost for users.
- Staff Management: Provide leadership and support to staff members, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation. Foster a positive work culture that values teamwork, professionalism, and community excellence
- Facility Management: Oversee the management of the sports complex facilities, including the skating rink, turf field, concessions and other amenities. Ensure facilities are well-maintained and meet safety and regulatory standards.
Education, Experience & Special Requirements
Recreation Supervisor I
Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
- Typical education would include a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college, university or equivalent with an emphasis in Recreation and Leisure studies or related field.
- Typical experience would include two years of progressive, responsible experience in the delivery of recreation or leisure service activities.
- Possession of the appropriate California driver's license, or the ability to acquire one within ten days of appointment.
Recreation Supervisor II
Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
- Typical education would include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university or equivalent with a degree in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or closely related field.
- Typical experience would include three years progressive responsible experience in public recreation, including two years supervising personnel in a recreation program.
- Possession of the appropriate California driver's license, or the ability to acquire one within ten days of appointment.
