The Role We are looking for a Volleyball Program Director to join the Multnonah Athletic Club's athletic operations department. This individual will manage all aspects of the competitive volleyball program and recreational summer camps. Key focus will be on offering comprehensive and developmental programs to members in order to learn, play, and complete in volleyball. What You'll Do
  • Directly supervises all Volleyball Lead Coaches, Volleyball Assistant Coaches, and Volleyball Private Instructors.
  • Hires, supervises, coaches, motivates, develops, and trains all coaches.
  • Evaluates and monitors staff performance. Develops orientation and training programs for volleyball staff.
  • Programs the junior and adult competitive volleyball seasons and summer camps.
  • Responsible for organizing and running tryouts, practices, tournaments, leagues, and other program offerings.
  • Assists the volleyball committee with program goals, tournaments, and club events.
  • Serves as the tournament director at MAC hosted volleyball tournaments and represent MAC at offsite tournaments.
  • Stays up to date on techniques and rules of competitive volleyball by taking advantage of professional advancement opportunities.
  • Serves as the MAC volleyball liaison to the national governing body and association(s), which includes registration of team rosters, club activation and tournament scheduling.
  • Communicates with local high school and college coaches, athletic directors, professional and ex-professional athletes to network, broaden MAC outreach, create new programs and partner for community programs. Supports and participates in Multnomah Athletic Foundation and MAC community outreach.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Court Sports Manager, Assistant Athletic Director, and Athletic Director.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in sports management, sports science, physical education or recreation management or a related field or the equivalent in education, training, and experience.
  • 5 years or more of competitive coaching experience or supervision of competitive volleyball at the club, high school or collegiate level.
  • Demonstrated coaching and administrative management experience with broad programming background to include all age levels (youth through senior). 5 years experience in a comparable position preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively program, plan, budget, organize, supervise, and communicate are desired.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency including working knowledge of computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office applications, TeamSnap, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with members, guests, and employees in written and verbal form.
  • Ability and skill to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees and members.
  • Ability and skill to work effectively in a service environment with member committees.
  • Current USA Volleyball, CPR AED/ First Aid and SafeSport certifications required or must be obtained within the first three months of employment.
