The Utah State Hospital (USH) is seeking an experienced, career minded individual to assist in managing the daily operations of our Food Services Department. The Food Services Supervisor II works closely with both the department manager and kitchen staff to oversee preparation and service of food, training and management of staff, inventory counts/rotation, quality control and efficiency improvement. The Food Services Supervisor II also actively contributes to the department managers efforts in scheduling, staffing, budgets, planning, and ordering.
The Food Service Department at USH is a fun, hardworking team responsible for preparation and service of daily meals to over 300 patients and their guests as well as about 800 State employees. This is a full-time position Monday-Friday 9am-530pm. (after 30 days of training) that includes a full State of Utah employee benefits package.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Food Service Supervisor Certificate / ServSafe Certification.
- Two years of formal food service training and three years food service management experience, or a combination of training and experience in a food service management position to equal five years.
- Basic knowledge of the principles of dietetics/nutrition.
- Experience supervising, training and evaluating employee proficiency and efficiency.
- The ability to speak, read and write English and follow written and oral directions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in food preparation, sanitation, inventory rotation, large scale ordering, record keeping, safety, and deep-clean scheduling/tracking.
- The physical ability to perform the duties of the position, which often requires performing repetitive tasks and physical movements. These may include, but are not limited to: standing/walking continuously, lifting (50 pounds or more), bending, turning, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above the shoulders.
- A neat personal appearance and an industrious and cooperative attitude, as well as professional references who can verify a track record of honesty, dependability, and strong character.
