Starting Gate Driver

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Drives the starting gate vehicle under the direction of the Starter, adhering to all of the Starter's instructions and directions. Operates the vehicle in a manner consistent with the safe conduct of a race, the safety of the race participants, and the safety of the patrons. Reports immediately to Starter any mechanical or operational malfunctions of starting gate vehicle. Performs other duties as assigned. Enforces company policy and PA State Harness Commission rules and regulations. Promotes outstanding customer and horsemen relations.

Requirements:

Minimum three years (harness) experience as Starter or starting gate driver at regular or recognized fairmeeting. Valid PA Harness Commission license or ability to receive license. If required, valid PA Gaming license or ability to receive license pending regulatory development. Solid knowledge of on-track racing protocol and procedures. Prior hands-onexperience as horseman or racing department official preferred.

Is able to work in smoke filled environment, and is able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.

Must be able to obtain a Harness license through the state of Pennsylvania .
