New Heights was founded in October 2005 as an independent non-profit organization in New York City. Our mission is “to educate and empower promising underserved youth to be leaders, champions and student-athletes by developing the skills necessary for success in high school, college and life.” We are located at the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Community Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Our facility includes three basketball courts, three classrooms, offices, tutoring rooms, and meeting spaces.
New Heights provides intensive, long-term support for promising young athletes from underserved communities to develop the academic skills, leadership abilities and character traits necessary to succeed beyond sports. Through our new home and programming, we will be expanding our services to impact thousands of youth annually, primarily in grades 4-12, through our College Bound and Community programs that include:
About The Bridge Program
New Heights Youth, Inc. is launching The Bridge Program (Pilot), a sports-based youth development initiative that provides underserved adolescents with basketball training, academic support, and life skills mentorship. Coaches will play a crucial role in fostering athletic development while mentoring and empowering student-athletes on and off the court.
The Bridge Coaches will be responsible for delivering high-quality basketball instruction, facilitating skill-building sessions, and mentoring youth in alignment with New Heights’ holistic development approach. This part-time position reports to the Community Manager and is based at our facility located at 1561 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11225. With an anticipated March 17, 2025 start date, the position’s work schedule will be:
